Here is an old video of Andrae and a private jam session (thats my ugly Aloha shirt in the first couple frames) Lost one of the greatest artists that I ever had the privileged to work with personally. I am saddened because I lost a patron of knowledge and experience in my life. Of anyone I know, he for sure is in Heaven. I was just a punk, untalented kid in comparison - but he would take my calls and work on projects with me - I mean he worked with legends like Madonna and Michael Jackson, who am I?. But he saw that my goal to define words like grace in my life was worth more then the greatest pop song ever. To produce a life that was a piece of art as my goal appealed to him. I still remember this one day, Darcy, myself and Andrae hung out just talking and philosophizing about life (6 hours just us). Everything from when he was kidnapped as a two year old to my life growing up poor to the miracle of how he learned to play the piano. My mom, who loved Andraes music for decades was interrupting with a call. (Seriously she used to play his gospel records as we got ready for church on sundays to get our heads in the game) She was calling while I was hanging out with him, I looked at the phone and said oh its just my mom, he grabbed the phone and said let me talk to her. They talked for 10 minutes and she was gushing, and he told her what a great kid I was (that still brings tears to my eyes). We just spent hours, even now playing back those times in my mind I regret when I didnt let him speak (or play / sing) more, he had so many thoughts now that I wish I understood better. His faith was so alive. The private jam sessions (concerts) he would give me and Darcy are something I still have on tape, and listen to every once and a while. But more importantly the reason he was such a great artistic example to me, he really believed what he was singing about.
