Here is an opportunity to serve. I wanted to - TopicsExpress

Here is an opportunity to serve. I wanted to encourage you and you church and/or organization to be involved in Christmas at the Citadel Stadium. We should take advantage of such a wonderful opportunity for Christians to come together and worship while also taking back the holiday from all the commercialism. It is also important in these times to reinforce that this is a Christian nation and we have a Judeo- Christian heritage and that is why we can celebrate Christmas as a national holiday. Last year, 3,000 people showed up on Christmas Day! At this incredible united Christian party, we not only spent time in worship and fellowship together, we fed the hungry, clothed the naked, gave out bicycles for the kids and more! I wanted to take a moment and thank The Citadel for donating the use of Johnson Hagood Stadium for this important community initiative. As I have been involved meeting needs in the community, I have been very encouraged to see citadel cadets mentoring kids, helping with construction projects and more and wanted to express my gratitude for their generosity and service. In my 17 years as a worker in this community, the Citadel has stood out as a college that has purposely engaged the community in service while training their students for community involvement. Thank God for them! As for information on this event: Volunteers arrive at 11:00 am. This year, there are great opportunities to give, including: Recycle Your Bicycle- bringing new or gently used bikes to give out to kids Shoebox Gifts- to give out to kids Coats and Blankets- to give to veterans and the homeless Motorcycle Rally- on Christmas Day Choir- We will have 2 practices for a united Choir. Finances- You can see our budget and it is hard for this ministry to cover it. Please go to birthdayparty4jesus.org for more information. Thank You! R.
