Here is an outstanding 10-minute piece with Eva Mozes Kor produced by Romanian reporter Andrea Ghita when our group was in Eastern Europe this summer. The first 90 seconds are in Romanian, but the rest is English. The report touches on Evas philosophy of forgiveness, why she invited two grandsons of Nazis to join us at Auschwitz, and why she returned to her home village in Transylvania. The report has a serene, reflective tone and is subtly moving. Well worth the 10 minutes. The interview takes place in the synagogue of Cluj, Romania, the city where Eva and Miriam lived after they survived. Three interesting notes about this synagogue: - It was destroyed during WWII and restored soon after Eva and Miriam moved to Cluj - It is where Eva and Miriam attended their first Holocaust remembrance ceremony (in 1947) - Below this synagogue is a one-room dirt cellar where Eva and Miriam attended secret Zionist meetings. Meetings were held in the cellar for fear of being discovered by the Communist regime (our group is pictured in the cellar in the 4th photo) Thanks to Julia Borland for the great photos!
