Here is an update from the Peru Mission Team: We arrived in Chiclayo, Peru 2 days ago and have had a jam packed schedule since we landed here! We flew from Lima to Chiclayo on Tuesday. It is about an hour flight. After landing we were took a short ride to our new homes for the next week. After a meal and some devotions we were off to bed for a long day of work ahead of us. Wednesday we spent the morning in San Antonio a local church about 30 minutes from where we are staying in Las Brisas. While in San Antonio we took down a roof in one of the rooms in the church that had many holes in order to replace it with a new roof. We also painted the inside if the new roof material a nice white color. After a couple hours of work we had a delicious lunch at Pastor Merci and his wife Isabels house. Finally we ended our day in Las Lomas which is about 15 minutes from where we are staying. We had time to travel around to some of the homes of the people of Las Lomas and learn about their lives in Christ and their families. Today (Thursday) we went back to San Antonio to continue working on the roof and preparing the open space with new paint over the pipes. We spent some time at the church with the preschool children. Also we helped the youth get the church ready for an event they are having on Saturday which we will be attending. Now we are back at our house getting some much needed rest. The following are some quotes from the youth about their experiences thus far: My favorite moment so far is riding home in a taxi with 7 people inside and getting smoothed up against the ceiling. Said Ryan Although the language barrier is there, trying to communicate and work through challenges has been fun. Said Jen I have had a great time practicing my Spanish and meeting people. Also, the food is awesome!! Said Matt Having a wonderful time. Greatful for Gods blessings and our dear friends in Peru. Said Pastor Thomas Thank you for making this experience possible. It has been an interesting adventure so far. When we were putting the food together it made me feel privileged for everything I have. Also they have amazing doughnuts. Said Alaina Thank you again to all of our families and shareholders for all you have done for this trip. We are all learning a lot and have had a wonderful time so far. Your Peru mission team!
