Here is an update on Odie. There was a bit of confusion last week with the postings. Odie is a precious boy who just needs a little help to get through a much needed surgery and then hell be rady to find his forever home. Check out what his foster mom had to say about him: Our little Odie is much cuter than his namesake in Garfield and he even likes cats; he also likes large dogs, small dogs, and people of all ages. He just celebrated his first birthday, knows some basic commands, and even rings a bell to let you know when Mother Nature is calling his name! Odie loves to snuggle, get belly rubs, take walks, and he is quite the social butterfly because he loves to talk. Odie was not always so outgoing and happy — not long ago, he was spotted in the woods on the outskirts of an industrial park in Greenville, SC. He was shy, nervous, would not let anyone near him, and he was limping in pain. After two weeks of leaving food and gaining Odies trust, a very kind man was able to get Odie into his car and take him home. This “angel” took Odie to the vet and then contacted us for help because despite Odie’s pain, his new found hope is shining bright. He has that wonderful boxer spirit and wants to run and play; however, he suffers from a condition called Osteochondritis Dessecans (OCD) in his shoulder. This is a disease that results in an abnormal development of the cartilage on the end of a bone. The diseased cartilage separates from the underlying bone causing a flap in the joint. It’s been described as feeling like you are walking with a pebble in your shoe. Odie was either born with this condition or it resulted from him growing very fast as a puppy. Odie cannot run and play too much or it will cause excruciating pain; his foster mom also limits his activity to avoid further injury until he can have surgery to remove the cartilage flap. After surgery, Odie is expected to make a full recovery. Please consider contributing to Odie’s surgery and give him hope to run and play like a boxer puppy should! He has spring fever and can’t wait to find his forever home! youcaring/medical-fundraiser/odie-needs-shoulder-surgery-/167912
