Here is another 1 of the kids we are helping. I have personally only met Hannah once. She was a very positive happy girl for everything she has been through. Hanah is a 12 year old outgoing girl who was diagnosed with spondylometaphyseal dysplasia with hip dysplasia. She was diagnosed when she was 2 years old at a 2 year well child check after multiple Dr. visits, we found out that less than 1 in a million kids will get this disease. She has had multiple surgeries, some of them where she spent months in the hospital miles away from home. She has spent many months at the Shrine hospital in St.louis and Minneapolis, Her disease affects her spine, bones. She has a form of dwarfism, due to her disease. she has a severely deformed rib cage that is deformed and will need correction sometime in the future. Hanah needed to have a spinal fusion in Nov 2009 because of a hip surgery that went way wrong. Going into a spinal fusion not knowing what to expect with the outcome of the surgery other than her spine would be alot straighter and a possibility of her not walking again but not knowing that she would be paralyzed from the waist down. Hanah went back to surgery in July 2010 for a second spinal fusion for the lower half of her spine since she was in a wheelchair the lower half of her spine started to curve also. Hanah then went into another surgery in Oct. of 2010 for a plate removal in her right leg due to a non healing fracture after a hip surgery two years prior. Now the top half of Hanahs leg is not attached to the lower half of her leg.. Even through all of this Hanah loves to play baseball at the Miracle League downtown on Saturdays in the spring and fall and also loves to watch the races . If you have any questions please ask her she is a very well educated little girl who knows about her disease.
