Here is another world… another teaser from the book, That Day 2015 release: (rough draft… not edited) Perhaps someone on Facebook would like to edit this and repost it… Im thinking about using it in the book… But have not decided for sure… Your Thoughts??? …. Military Intelligence and the Pentagon sanctioned our operations. Most all our missions to Cuba were covert in nature and extremely sensitive. The CIA acted as our logistical support team, but we reported secretly to Military Intelligence through ‘cut-outs’ and CIA case officers. We were classified as civilians, although we were military. If we were caught inside Cuba, we would declare ourselves as mercenaries and then be shot. Sometimes the methods we used to complete our missions were a little unorthodox to say the least. The CIA because of our methods and procedures, were a little concerned that matters were getting out of control in Florida and Cuba. In their view we were running wild, a bunch of loose misfits that had to be brought back under control before something drastic happened. This particular man from Washington did not fit in our little world. We knew who he was. We had had dealings with him before. He was obnoxious, condescending in tone and manner, no sense of humor, a real pain in the ass. He was a pure bureaucrat who could never understand our ways of doing things and too Rojas did not trust him. Sickie Rick devised a plan how to get rid of him. It involved a ‘hooker’ from Miami and a cottonmouth snake from the Florida Everglades that Sicky Rick and Animal had hidden under the bed at the hotel in a pillow case. When Animal and the CIA man from Washington got back from Miami and were at the bar at Jack Tarrs, the CIA person was a total wreck, white as a sheet. It was not Animals driving, but the stories Animal told him on the way down to Marathon Key. Animal recounted stories about the ‘fun things’ our operations had encountered, at least from Animals point of view they were seen as fun, adventure stories, weird stories, judged by others as crazy, unbelievable stories. “Our Washington CIA contact had never known anyone like Animal or Sicky Rick. He wanted to distance himself as far as possible away from both of them. Their manner and frankness about our operations stunned him. At the bar, he was almost speechless. Animal had scared the hell out of him on the trip down from Miami, telling him his ‘adventure stories’ about his crazy trips into Cuba. The CIA man downed three scotch and waters in less than ten minutes. He soon settled down, a little tipsy. The plan was put in motion. Sicky Rick left the bar to get the snake from under the bed. He took it outside where he waited patiently for the hooker. Animal stayed at the bar telling his embellished war stories to anyone that would listen. He held the CIA man captive at the bar, buying him more drinks, loosing him up a little, before Animal took him outside. It was all part of the plan. The young lady, the hooker from Miami had arrived earlier. She entered the room, looked around, and then approached the bar where she sat down next to our target. The plan was in motion. Animal left the bar, leaving the two strangers alone. He joined Sickie Rickie, outside with the snake. It was all now up to Maxine the hooker. When it came time to apply the chloroform to our intoxicated friend, Maxine stood out like a pro. His drink spiked with a sedative the CIA bureaucrat needed help walking, so Maxine asked me to help her take him to her room. Soon they were in a very compromising position, as I watched. That’s when Ricky slipped in the room with the snake, handed me a camera. I took a few pictures of the hooker and the bureaucrat in their compromising position for future reference. Why? I don’t know. At the moment, It seemed like the thing to do. Animal brought the snake into the room. Maxine left the room. She was afraid of snakes. Her job was done. Sicky Rick untied the pillow case and Animal, in one lightning move quickly put the now sleeping man’s foot inside the sack. It was all done in one quick motion. I got another picture of that operation. The snakebite was over in three or four seconds, four rapid bites. The snake was mad as hell. After the event, Sicky Ricky took the cottonmouth snake back to the swamps. He let it go. Sickie Rick could kill you in five seconds if he wanted to and think nothing about it. However, he could not harm and animal, not even a snake. It wasn’t his nature. Most Humans he often said, was subspecies, and deserved to be taken out of the gene pool. We did not want the man from the CIA to die from the snakebite. We wanted him to go back to Washington and leave us alone. That night after the event, we called emergency and the local sheriff and explained what had happened to our CIA friend. The next day, after being treated locally and being prepared for emergency transportation to a medical treatment center in Miami, I ,with the Sheriff, went to see our friend. He told the Sheriff he couldn’t remember what had happened. The Sheriff told him the story we had told him the night before when we called in the emergency. He was told he and his lady friend went for a walk around the airport to see the airplanes. Your lady friend told the Sheriff, before she left for Miami the previous night, that you had to pee and went into the bushes and the snake bit you. She also stated in the report that she hope you were going to be O.K. “For me? Well, I kind of liked the guy and felt sorry for him. He was O.K. just strange; just not a qualified player in our sand box. From our point of view he was from another world. My new friend recovered from the snakebite, but caught a bad case of the clap from Maxine the hooker. He was eventuality released from active duty by the CIA because of his lack of moral judgment and character. He was transferred and re assigned to the Pentagon and attached to the Joint Chief of Staff. In some ways, I saw it as a promotion for his ‘covert’ injuries he had received from his south Florida mission. He was really one of America’s true Cold War warriors. Note; very rough… rewrite, flesh out and clean up: Notes might be able to use it in the chapter before Dallas.
