Here is my joint statement with the Premier on our efforts to rescue the redevelopment of the Royal Hobart Hospital - just as we promised to do on coming to government. premier.tas.gov.au/releases/royal_hobart_hospital_decision2 Today has been a very positive day for the health system in Tasmania, with the redevelopment now radically improved. Featuring better mental health provision, a helipad to allow emergency transport for people outside Hobart and a safer transfer of patients during the build. It was a pleasure to go to the Royal today and brief staff in person, as well as take questions and join discussion. Its true that along the way another proposal came forward which we also assessed. At up to $2.6 billion additional debt to Tasmania, this was unaffordable. I take this opportunity to say that we have made the best decision on the interests of health needs of Tasmanians that we can afford.
