Here is my latest article that was in this weeks paper. Hopefully this truth will bring relief and freedom to others like it has to me. Discovering another amazing truth about our wonderful God How do you view God? This is not a rhetorical question. I really want you to think about it. Whether you have ever consciously thought about it or not, everyone has formed a mental image of who they think God is and what He is like. I believe far too many people see God as angry and harsh. But that is not so. God is not mad at us; He is loving and kind towards us. He loves us more than we will ever know and so much more than we deserve. Jesus has reconciled us to God through His sacrifice, and God is not mad anymore!! Let me show you with scripture. “With a little wrath I hid My face from you for a moment; But with everlasting kindness I will have mercy on you,” Says the Lord, your Redeemer. For this is like the waters of Noah to Me; For as I have sworn that the waters of Noah would no longer cover the earth, So have I sworn that I would not be angry with you, nor rebuke you. For the mountains shall depart and the hills be removed, but My kindness shall not depart from you, nor shall My covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has mercy on you. Isaiah 54:8-10. This first verse is referring back to Deuteronomy 31:17, which was under the old covenant. God was mad at the people of Israel because they were worshipping other gods and broke the covenant He had made with them. But we are now under the new covenant of grace through the blood of Jesus, and the rest of these verses are prophesying how God would be treating us under this new covenant. (The previous chapter, Isaiah 53, prophesies of the coming Messiah) Most people don’t even realize there is a difference between the old covenant and the new covenant. This is why many people view God as mean and harsh, because they look at how things happened under the old covenant of law (I will explain this all in more detail in a future article) and they don’t realize we are now under the new covenant of grace. There is a huge difference. It goes on to say that God will always be kind to us, and He will not be mad at us. Wow, are you getting this? Do you see a difference? These are the words of God to us, and it is impossible for God to lie (Hebrews 6:18). How can this be, that God will not be mad at us, that His kindness shall not depart from us, and His covenant of peace will never be removed from us? One word answer: Jesus! Isaiah 53:10a-11 says: Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief…He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied…By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, For He shall bear their iniquities. This says it pleased the Lord to bruise Jesus. How could it please a loving Father to see His Son suffer? Because God knew the one time sacrifice of Jesus was paying the price for the sins of the entire world. It made God happy to know that now man would be reconciled to Himself through Jesus (Second Corinthians 5:18-19). Sin, which had caused a rift in the relationship, was paid for on the body of Jesus. Hallelujah! Thank you Jesus! I understand this may be hard for some to swallow because God has probably been misrepresented to you as being angry and harsh, yet He is just the opposite. He is always kind to us, will never be mad at us, and will always have mercy on us. Realizing those incredible truths has taken my relationship with God to a completely different level. And I pray it will do the same for you. I encourage you start meditating on these verses, and pray for the Holy Spirit to enlighten you. Then start praising God for His love, kindness, and incredible gift of Jesus to us today!
