Here is my letter to the news paper editors across Missouri. I once heard a pastor’s sermon talk about fences. Fences ??? Yes, this sermon has resonated with me for years and continues to daily. As he said, that in the beginning there was GOD and GOD’s law and over time man has put up fences to keep the citizens farther and farther from GOD. The Pharisees and Sadducees made laws and regulations to push the citizens further from GOD. That continues today. We have millions and millions of laws, regulations, codes, ordinances and statutes that take us away from GOD’s laws and our GOD given rights. Property rights are one of the most important rights that we have as citizens. We have so many fences that have been made by our government that it is very hard to see GOD anymore. The government has outlawed GOD from our schools, government buildings and the IRS has outlawed our churches from talking about the government, and or politicians. Yet, people don’t believe that the Missouri Constitution protects us and supports a new fence called Amendment #1 the Right to Farm of 2014. Article I BILL OF RIGHTS Section 2 states: “That all constitutional government is intended to promote the general welfare of the people; that all persons have a natural right to life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness and the enjoyment of the gains of their own industry; that all persons are created equal and are entitled to equal rights and opportunity under the law; that to give security to these things is the principal office of government, and that when government does not confer this security, it fails in its chief design.” Amendment #1 is another fence that the government has put in front of us to take our GOD given right to farm and provide good clean food for our families. When your food supply is codified, by the government and large corporations have total control of your food, we will have yet another fence. But this fence could become locked, disallowing the ability to feed your family. Our government has allowed Monsanto to genetically modify seed that was given to us by GOD created perfect by Him. Then Monsanto was granted a patent on that seed. Monsanto now requires an agreement or license to plant this seed. If the Monsanto seed is planted across the road from your organic crops, Monsanto will get the court to steal your crop for patent infringement. Amendment #1 is bad news and another fence that we do not need. Please join me and “JUST SAY NO” on Amendment #1 on August 5th John Dollarhite Small Farmer and Businessman
