Here is my own racism. It is no one elses. I fully own my racism and I commit to learning how to counter racism in my thoughts, words, and actions. Beyond my internal work, I commit to using my White privilege to speak out about racism in spaces where White supremacy reigns unchecked. My fight against racism in the outside world must happen in tandem with the fight against my own racism. i promise, we cannot have conversations that affect change if we do not acknowledge what is internalized in us. we are given messages from the day we are born, socialized to think this way. if you want to ask me about it, we can learn together how to combat racism within our institutionalized systems, but also within our personal live and relationships. next time someone calls you out for a racist behavior or action, instead of responding haughtily, im not racist!!!!, reflect on your conditioning, and that you make in fact, and probably are, being racist.
