Here is my receipt from Hannafords in Dracut, MA today. Got there at 7 a.m., the parking lot was full. Shelves were being stocked because they were essentially empty. All in all, however, my shopping experience there was no different than at Market Basket. I spent the same amount of money that I spend WEEKLY. Why do I bring this up? Because there is a reason I choose to shop at Market Basket. When I was a teenager, I worked at Hannaford (formerly Shop N Save). It was an o.k. job...put me through high school and college. When we had crazy shopping days, like those going on at Hannaford, Stop and Shop, etc., all we got, as employees, was a thank you. Sure, thats nice. But the culture that Arthur T. Demoulas has created is to reward his employees hard work with bonuses and profit sharing. As someone who remembers all of the long hours and hard work I had to put in, day in and day out, to make sure the customers were happy, I now choose to shop at a place where the employees, as well as the customers, ALL BENEFIT.
