Here is one of the pit bull mixes weve begun working with. So much is unknown about the history of this dog but the observable behavior is clear and pretty intense. This dog cowers, tucks her tail, hides, and looks over her shoulder at the most subtle changes in her environment. Last night was the first of a series of behavior, training, and empowerment sessions we are beginning to implement. This dog shows signs of being more comfortable with women than with men including the man in this household. I was told that this dog will only go up to the man in the household maybe 50% of the time. Last night we began working on exercises to begin building this dogs confidence level. I began by teaching her to target to the right hand on cue. For now, we are sticking to the right hand only because I think predictability, consistency, very small steps, and very short training sessions are important. This is one of several cases I will begin an on-going behavior and training log here on Facebook for anyone to follow that wishes to follow. Shes a sweet, special girl so sit back and enjoy watching her confidence level soar!
