Here is part one of the posts from the official FB Admins Group detailing the photo upload and storage problem. This is the problem that will force all large FB groups that wish to retain their history to adopt the archive and migrate strategy we are embarking on. Copy of the post : Facebook’s upgrade last year had dire consequences on numerous large groups worldwide, this change was made without warning, no-one knew it was coming and has forced many large group administrators to make unpopular choices for their members. The current photo threshold is 5000 Albums 1000 Photo’s per album 10,000 individual root photos (photos uploaded directly into the groups directory) If anyone of these thresholds is broken, it renders the groups photo search inoperable and there is no fix for it, the only option would be to close the group, that’s not an easy task either, to shut down a group completely you have to remove every user and then remove yourself as the last admin and then the group is deleted. Let’s put this in laymen terms hopefully everyone understands, a group with 1000 users who uploaded 10 photos a piece could essentially break the group on the next upload.
