Here is some news on Lindy today. 1. When we got to the hospital this morning, the physical therapist was in the room and they were adjusting the bed to get Lindy sitting up like in a chair. Lindy was awake and as they adjusted her she said it felt weird to be sitting up. She did ok sitting up and had a few sips of water. The PT asked if she was ok to swing her legs over the side of the bed and try sitting on the side without any back support. LIndy said, that makes me nervous, but Ill try. So as the nurse and PT tried to adjust her and get her wires out of the way, Lindy actually got a little ahead of them and was moving her legs and sitting up without much assistance at all from either nurse. The PT was impressed that Lindy could do that. After she sat up for a minute, the PT assured Lindy that she did really well and prepared to leave. Lindy asked her, are you leaving? The PT said she was and Lindy said, bummer. The PT said she would be back Monday but that her nurse Melissa could help her again later and said that Melissa was a good nurse. LIndy said, I know, she is my favorite. Lindy then asked us several times if she really did good and was going to be ok. We assured her she did great and was going to be fine. About 1:00 the surgeon came in to check on Lindy. She had Lindy follow a light beam, had her raise her arms out, had her move her feet, asked her to repeat a small phrase and then had her raise her arms and hold them up with her eyes closed. The surgeon was pleased that she did everything without hesitation and without having to explain what was needed. The surgeon said Lindys responses were so much better than yesterday. The surgeon then told us that the ct scan done at 3:30 am today was the first one that actually showed a reduction in swelling. Hallelujah!! There is still swelling but at least it has gone down. The surgeon said that the decreased swelling and Lindys response to her simple tests were really encouraging. Lindy is still worried that she is going to be ok, and asks that question fairly often. Evidently, too she still has some blurry vision, but the surgeon explained that she still has swelling and that it is just going to take time for the vision to normalize as the swelling goes down. So, lots of good signs today. So much better than yesterday and light years beyond Thursday. She just now said she was hungry and ate some bites of chicken and watermelon, and some bites of banana. She asked me for some lemonade earlier this afternoon. We are so thankful for all your prayers and encouragement. We were glad to see Abilene friends today and to hear their prayers over us. Rod and Elisabeth Pringle brought us some lunch and I think I heard that Chris Moore told people that I had paid for it, a phrase that some of you have heard before, but as usual it was not true. We are grateful for todays improvements and for the reduced swelling that we have prayed for. Would you continue to pray that the swelling continues to decrease, for her vision to normalize, and also pray for God to place a special peace of mind in LIndy that she is going to be ok. Again, words cannot express how thankful we are for your prayers and encouragement. Your words and thoughts have taken us to so many wonderful places across time and places, and all the while centering us in the heart of God in these very moments. Bill and Carol
