Contact: Senator-Elect Wayne Norman VoteWayneNorman.org SENATOR-ELECT WAYNE NORMAN ANNOUNCES STATE GRANT MONEY APPROVED FOR CALVERT REGIONAL PARK PROJECT On December 17, 2014, the Board of Public Works of Maryland approved a request to certify matching funds and to enter into a grant agreement for a $125,000 grant to the Board of County Commissioners of Cecil County for the acquisition, planning, design, construction, repair, renovation, reconstruction and capital equipping of the Countys Department of Parks and Recreation facilities, including the purchase and installation of dugouts, concession stands, fencing, scoreboards and bleachers for the Calvert Regional Park. It is located between MD Route 272 and MD route 273, four miles from I-95 and six miles from US Route 40. It is a 112 acre site which will house Cecil Countys first regional park. The property was purchased by the state in 2008 with Program Open Space Grant Funding for the specific purpose of improving the quality of life for Cecil County residents. The park amenities will include a linear synthetic turf field, seven (7) linear natural grass fields, walking trails, play structures, pavilions, baseball field, softball field, disc golf, dog park, splash pad, tennis courts, skate park, basketball courts, volleyball courts, and an amphitheatre. Phase I of the project will consists of one (1) synthetic turf field, four (4) natural grass linear fields, parking, disc golf, and a walking trail. Phase I should be available for public use by the Fall of 2015/Spring of 2016. The complete park build out of all phases (assuming funding approval) is expected to occur in late 2017 to early 2018.
