Here is the Vets report from their game on 26 April: Having had a few narrow escapes were we had preserved our unbeaten record in 90 mins the unfamiliar sensation of coming off the pitch having lost a game occurred on Sat. With the BBC far stronger these days than in the past we knew it would be a real battle as our line up was shorn of several regulars & the Beeb had the advantage of having played the previous Easter weekend. They also had their gifted play maker Robin back from playing first team football for Carshalton! We started slowly & the BBC dominated in terms of possession but with the midfield working very hard & the defence marshalled by Dulley & Sweeney we kept them from having any clear cut chances. We dragged ourselves back into the game with Atkinson up front a constant menace but all to rarely could we support him. Chambers whipped in a couple of good corners that we could not convert. When the BBC did get through our defence Plum pulled off one great save at his near post to keep us in the game but with the pressure increasing the Beeb took the lead with a John Mundy header after a fine passing move. Into the second half we made a positional change with JD coming to man mark Robin & Phil drifting out to the right. Playing up the hill seemed to help us as our passing whilst not perfect was better than in the first half & we started to create chances. We equalised when Remmer was played through by Atko & he duly slotted home. This gave us a lift & I hoped we would push on to get more goals but we were hit with a sucker punch when Mundy unleashed a shot from 25 yards that gave Plum no chance. Back came Boro & I am not sure how we did not score: Sweeney hit the bar with a fine header from an Axelson free kick & then was only just wide with a free kick of his own. BBC looked dangerous on the break a we went to three at the back after Rob who had run himself into the ground was replaced by me. Still we could not get the goal but I cannot fault the team for effort as every player gave their all. So we finally came up short in 90 minutes for the first time in twenty three games this season - not a bad effort for some old blokes!!. Plum was man of the match for keeping us in the game with some great saves in the second half. Two more games left to go so lets see if we can finish the season with a couple of wins. Thanks to Maggie Dulley for coming to support
