Here is the best response I found on the Internet about the under inflated footballs at the Patriots Colts game.. Questions an objective, scientific observer might want answered before rendering judgment: • How much does a ball typically deflate over the course of a game? • How long after the game were the balls tested? • Were the Colts’ footballs also tested as a benchmark? • How often do referees typically remove balls from games? • Why did the Colts’ linebacker making the interception reportedly not notice anything unusual about the ball, per the reporter who broke this story? • Why, if this is such a big deal and so out of the ordinary, did the refs not appear to notice anything during the game (except for the kickoff ball, which was properly removed?) • Was there actually any opportunity for the balls to be tampered with between the time of their inspection by the refs pre-game and kickoff? If not, by what mechanism is it being suggested that the Patriots cheated?
