Here is today’s report. —Jennifer Mascia I’zarion Collins, an 18-month-old boy, was shot and killed while sitting in a car in West Palm Beach, Fla., Wednesday. The victim was in a car with a man and another child when an unidentified man entered the car pulled out a gun. A fight broke out and the gun discharged. The victim was his mother’s only child. Police do not have any suspects and are soliciting tips from the public. —WPTV A 6-year-old boy shot and killed his grandfather with an unattended rifle during a family barbecue in Homestead, Fla., Sunday. Juan Manuel Martinez, Sr. set the gun on a table, where the child found it and shot him in the chest. The victim’s son, Juan Manuel Martinez Jr., 28, was charged with culpable negligence of a firearm for not keeping an eye on his loaded AK-47. He admitted he had been drinking beer and snorting cocaine. —Daily News A 70-year-old woman was accidentally shot in the head by her 69-year-old husband in a home in Huber Heights, Ohio, late Wednesday. The man was taken in for questioning but released. Police are not revealing the circumstances of the shooting. The victim is on life support. —WDTN Seven people were wounded in shootings across Chicago Wednesday. A 20-year-old man was shot in the face and critically wounded in a gang-related drive-by in the Austin neighborhood in the morning. That afternoon, a 28-year-old man was shot in the ear while sitting in the passenger seat of a van; the victim is a documented gang member and convicted felon. Three hours later, a 20-year-old man was shot in the right side in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood. About an hour later, a 20-year-old man was shot in the back and a 23-year-old man was shot in the leg in the Brainerd neighborhood. —Chicago Tribune Cayli Phillips, 24, and Eddie Centeno-Martinez, 50, were killed, and a 38-year-old man was critically wounded, after a long-running disagreement at an apartment complex in southwest Wichita, Kan., Tuesday night. The suspected shooter, 27, was stabbed in the chest at some point during the attack and is in critical condition. —Kansas Eugene Chew, 37, was shot and killed during an argument with his brother in north Oakland, Calif., Tuesday evening. The victim was doing work outside with Johnny Chew, 40, when they got into an argument. The victim went into the house and came back with a shotgun, and after a struggle, he was shot. Johnny Chew was taken in for questioning but not arrested. —KTVU A 17-year-old boy was shot and wounded while sitting on a porch in east Toledo, Ohio, Tuesday afternoon. He told police he did not see who shot him. —The Blade A 17-year-old boy was shot in the heel in Newport News, Va., Wednesday night. The victim told police he was walking between apartment buildings, and when he bent down to tie his shoe, a man approached him and said, “hey” before opening fire. Police have a suspect description and are soliciting tips. —WAVY Isaiah Cousins, a sophomore basketball player at the University of Oklahoma, was wounded in the shoulder by a stray bullet in Mount Vernon, N.Y., Tuesday night. Police said the victim was an innocent bystander caught in a gunfight between two gangs, the “Goonies” and “Gunnas.” His coach is hopeful that he will recover quickly. —CBS Sports Phillip Columbus Jones, 31, was shot and wounded at a residence in Gulf Shores, Ala., Tuesday evening. The victim’s arm was removed as a result of his injuries. He has been identified as the brother of Julio Jones, an wide receiver for the Atlanta Falcons. George Bennett Sutton, 53, has been arrested. On May 17, Tyrone Moore, the half-brother of Falcons player Roddy White, was killed in a shooting outside a nightclub in South Carolina. —NBC Sports William Creasy, 33, was shot while allegedly burgling a home in Franklin, Ky., Wednesday afternoon. The homeowner, Jack Traughber, discovered two people on his property attempting to take his possessions, and, feeling threatened, he opened fire. Upon his release from the hospital, Creasy will be charged. Police also arrested 27-year-old Caleb Creasy and 20-year-old Samantha Brooks and charged them with robbery. —WBKO Melissa Kimsey, 30, was shot and wounded in a home in Hoschton, Ga., early Wednesday. The victim’s 13-year-old daughter discovered her and called 911. The victim’s husband, Rodney Kimsey II, 31, is the primary suspect. He is being evaluated at a hospital and will be transferred to police custody. —Gainesville Times Christopher Shawn Davis, 27, who police said shot an 8-year old boy in the hand during a fight with his ex-girlfriend in Newton, N.C., last Friday, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound Wednesday afternoon. The boy was standing at his bedroom window when he was shot. Police aren’t sure whether Davis was firing randomly or aiming for the house. Davis was a convicted felon, and it was illegal for him to possess a gun. —Charlotte Observer Leonard Price, 38, was found shot to death in Panama City, Fla., early Wednesday. Michael Davis, 28, was charged with murder. Police are not revealing a motive. —WJHG Dennis Fitzwater, 29, was found shot with duct tape around his wrists in a home in Monessen, Pa., late Tuesday. Two children, ages 2 and 5, were sleeping in the next room. Police said two men with bandanas covering their faces threatened the victim, the children’s mother and her boyfriend, who were also in the house. Investigators have not revealed whether robbery was a motive. No arrests have been made. —WPXI Quantrella Turner, 28, was killed and Antonio Christian, 25, and Logan Christian, 38, were wounded in a drive-by shooting in Alexandria, Va., Tuesday night. Witnesses said someone in white S.U.V. opened fire. Cinquanta Hall, 25, was charged with manslaughter. —The Town Talk One person was killed and Chauncey Martin, 19, and Malik Phillips, 18, were wounded during a party at an apartment complex in Marietta, Ga., early Wednesday. No arrests have been made. —ajc A 24-year-old man was killed and another man was injured when someone opened fire on a car at a gas station in Vallejo, Calif., Tuesday night. No arrests have been made. —SF Gate A 20-year-old pregnant woman was wounded when someone opened fire on a home in south Dallas, Tex., late Tuesday. The victim told police she heard seven or eight shots. She was taken to a hospital with pregnancy complications. —The Dallas Morning News A woman was shot in the leg by someone in a passing car in Rockford, Ill., Tuesday night. The man driving the car fled, and he is being sought. —WREX Peter Jones III, 31, who was shot several times at a Natchez, Miss., nightclub on May 18, died of his injuries on Tuesday. Marvin Antony Watson, 49, turned himself in to police the day of the shooting. Police have not revealed a motive. —KNOE A 19-year-old man was shot in the neck a block away from a high school in Newark, N.J., Tuesday afternoon. Witnesses told police the victim was approached by two suspects, who opened fire and fled. Detectives have not yet released a motive or identified suspects. —NJ An 18-year-old man was shot in the back in the Hill District area of Pittsburgh late Wednesday. He is in critical condition. Earlier that evening, a 17-year-old boy was grazed in the cheek by a bullet in the Mt. A dark-colored vehicle was seen leaving the area. —WTKR A 25-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man were shot inside a minivan while they were driving in Rochester, N.Y., Wednesday. The victims stopped to talk to someone on the street when someone approached the car and opened fire. A third victim may have left the scene before police arrived. —Democrat & Chronicle A sheriff’s deputy was hit in the leg while chasing a robbery suspect in Riverview, Fla., Wednesday afternoon. A man robbed a Radio Shack and drove toward the interstate with deputies in pursuit. When the suspect was boxed in by police cars, he opened fire. The suspect was shot in the shoulder and apprehended. —Bay News 9 A 47-year-old woman was shot in the back with a BB gun while walking to her front yard in Dayton, Ohio, early Tuesday. The victim said a car pulled up behind her and two men wearing dark clothes got out and opened fire. The victim ran to her apartment building and started banging on doors for someone to let her in. In a separate incident early Wednesday, a 30-year-old woman was shot as she ran for cover after hearing gunfire. —WHIO A man in his 20s and a woman in her 30s were shot and wounded in Roswell, N.M., Tuesday night. The suspect is at large and considered armed and dangerous. —KOB A 29-year-old man was shot in the back and seriously injured during a landlord-tenant dispute at an apartment on the north side of Tucson, Ariz., early Wednesday. The victim was helping two women move out of the residence when one of them told the landlord that a TV was missing. During the ensuing argument, the landlord allegedly took out a gun and fired two shots. The tenants beat him over the head with a mesquite branch to disarm him. No arrests have been made because police got conflicting stories from everyone involved. —KGUN 9 Sharrelle Cole, 23, was shot in buttocks while walking in Salisbury, Md., early Wednesday. Robert Hawkins Johnson Jr., 63, is wanted for attempted murder. No word on a motive. —Delmarva Now Joshua D. Voorhees, 28, was shot in the stomach after trying to diffuse an argument in Saline County, Neb., early Wednesday. Zachary W. Grummert, 25, was arrested. —Journal Star A man was shot and wounded in Norfolk, Va., late Wednesday. The victim is not cooperating with police. —WAVY A man in his 20s was shot while standing in the front yard of a home in Beaufort County, S.C., Wednesday evening. It is not clear where the shots came from or what the motive is. —The Beaufort Gazette A teenager was shot and wounded in Milwaukee, Wis., late Tuesday. Police did not disclose the victim’s age or the circumstances of the shooting. —WISN A man was shot in the hand while standing outside a bar in Vincennes, Ind., early Tuesday. The suspect was asked to leave Alice and Woody’s Bar because he was disorderly, and he opened fire from his car. Police have the suspect in custody. —14 News Jamaal Foster, 33, was shot and killed during a fight with an acquaintance in the driveway of a home in southwest Houston, Tex., Tuesday night. As the victim approached 25-year-old Patrick Smith in his driveway, police said Smith told him to leave and brandished a shotgun. When Foster did not comply, Smith shot him several times. He was charged with murder. —Click2Houston Lamar Dempsey, 25, was shot in the chest and hip and seriously injured in Jackson, Mich., early Tuesday. The victim was leaving a relative’s house with his girlfriend when he was struck by gunfire. No one has been arrested. —MLive A juvenile was shot and wounded in Memphis, Tenn., early Wednesday. Little information is available. —WREG Allen Ray Dingess, 34, was shot with a 12-gauge shotgun after an incident at a home in the Clendenin area of Kanawha County, W.Va., Wednesday afternoon. Police arrested Charles “Sam” Myers, 49. —WSAZ Police found a man shot and wounded on a sidewalk near Yucca Park in Indio, Calif., early Wednesday. One of the homes near the park was hit by a stray bullet. Police do not have a motive. —The Desert Sun Carmine Foglia, 22, was shot in the chest during a robbery at a subdivision in Altamonte Springs, Fla., Wednesday afternoon. Police said the suspect, 19-year-old Raymon Christopher, knows the victim. He was located at a nearby home and taken into custody. —WESH A 19-year-old man was shot in the face in Kings Beach, Calif., Wednesday afternoon. The suspected shooter, Brandon Lamont Fuller, 19, told police the shooting was accidental. He was arrested for negligent discharge of a firearm. —The Sacramento Bee Police found a 32-year-old man fatally shot in Tulare, Calif., Wednesday afternoon. Anyone with information is asked to contact police. —The Fresno Bee According to the Gun Violence Archive, 7,518 people have been injured by gun violence in America and 4,312 have been killed since Jan. 1, 2014. That number includes 15 police officers killed, 469 children injured or killed and 351 instances of defensive gun use.
