Here is the information that I have compiled from the various scale 1:350 model kits of the Spruance class destroyer. All of the parts already exist at Dragon Models, here is list: CREATING ANY VERSION OF THE SPRUANCE CLASS DESTROYER USING DRAGON MODEL KITS 1. To create the VLS version, use kit # 1020 (USS Cushing DD 985) as designated from the parts list in the instruction sheet 2. To create the ABL/ASROC version, use kit# 1020 (USS Cushing DD 985) as the base kit but “add” these trees from the instructions parts list (USS Ingersoll DD 990 Kit No: 1007) Tree “G” ASROC Launcher and Tree “M” ABL launchers. This will also allow you to build the Spruance in her original configuration as well. 3. To build the Composite Mast Version of USS Arthur W. Radford DD 968, use the “USS Cushing DD 985, kit No: 1020” as the baseline and add Tree designated “M and P” from Kit No: 1018, USS Arthur W. Radford DD 968. SUMMARY: If Dragon Models will make the effort to create a single model kit to include all of the parts listed above, then they could market it with very little effort as the parts (trees) already exist. They might have to create a new instruction sheet but I believe there are enough people out there who want these kits. Notice, I did not include EDD 964 SDTS ship’s configuration. The Foster is a unique application; I would not expect Dragon models to create a kit just for that ship. I would create the Foster as she was prior to her decommissioning.
