Here is the latest update from Cal Fire at 3;00pm for the #SwedesFire Swedes Fire Incident Information: Last Updated: August 19, 2013 3:00 pm Date/Time Started: August 16, 2013 4:37 pm Administrative Unit: CAL FIRE Butte Unit County: Butte County Location: southeast of Oroville Acres Burned - Containment: 1,995 acres - 45% contained Structures Threatened: 400 Structures Destroyed: 1 residential structure, 1 garage, 3 outbuildings and multiple vehicles Evacuations: 8/19/13 3pm Warning Evacuations are being lifted for residents to return to their properties on Swedes Flat Road, Chinese Wall Road, Turkey Creek Trail, Deer Valley Road, Stoney Oaks Blvd, Stoney Oaks Loop, Obert Drive, Gaston Booth Road, Gold Mountain Road, Century Court. Hurleton Swedes Flat Road from Swedes Flat Road to Verner Oaks Drive – including Ricky Road, Soda Creek Ranch Road, Lorretta Lane, Maple Lane, Ooti Way, Purple Rocks Lane, Mistletoe Lane, Dickerson Lane and Greerty Road. Residents re-entering the area should be aware of their surroundings at all times. Use caution when driving through the fire area. Fire and utility crews will be on the roads consistently throughout the area. If you feel that an area may be unsafe, leave that area immediately and contact emergency personnel. Evacuation Orders: Fox Lane, Cornett Lane, Cedarwood Dr., and the east side of Oro Bangor Highway from Swedes Flat to Mission Crest. An Evacuation Order requires the immediate movement of people out of an affected area due to imminent threat to life. Evacuation Warnings: All residents that are not covered by the Order above within the boundary of Miners Ranch Road from Oro Bangor Highway to Oro Quincy Highway (Hwy 162), Oro Quincy Highway to Forbestown Road, Hurleton Swedes Flat Road to Swedes Flat Road. Forbestown Road from Lumpkin Road to Old Olive Highway and for all portions of Hurleton Road. All of Hurleton Road, Hurles Circle, Mackey Court, Mather Lane, Hershel Lane, Roosa Way, Romelt Lane, Angel Way, Nice Place, Finlayson Court, Stringtown Road, Diamond Bar Court, Gold View Court, Gloriana Road, Harry Lane, Old Post Drive, Kim Drive, Mountain Oak Road, Empire Point Drive, Lothrop Lane, Maidu Run, Dancing Wind Drive, Summer View Drive, Rebel Lane, Elams Ranch Road, Wicks Way, Lakeview Ridge Rd, Forbestown Cir and Hideaway Pl. An Evacuation Warning alerts people in an effected area of potential threat to life and property. Road Closures : Swedes Flat Road Cause: Under Investigation Cooperating Agencies: United States Forest Service, Oroville Fire Department, El Medio Fire Department, Chico Fire Department, Butte County Sheriff, California Highway Patrol, California Office of Emergency Services, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Bureau of Land Management, South Feather Water and Power, Red Cross, North Valley Animal Rescue Group. Total Fire Personnel: 900 Total Fire Engines: 90 Total Fire crews: 27 Total Airtankers: 8 Total Helicopters: 2 Total Dozers: 11 Total Water Tenders: 6 Conditions: Current Situation: Crews continue to strengthen existing containment line as well as build additional containment lines. Shifting and erratic winds and steep and difficult terrain remain a challenge. All evacuation warnings and orders remain in effect. A Red Flag warning has been issued for dry lightning storms that have moved into the area extending to Wednesday. Note – Because the spread of this fire is dynamic, the evacuation orders and warning below can change rapidly. Be prepared. Be aware of your surroundings. Evacuate if you feel you are in danger, with or without an order or warning.
