Here is the link to contribute to Bryants upcoming surgeries and care. Thank you so much!! razoo/story/Bryant-S-Road-To-Recovery Bryants Recovery Day 5 Well Bryant has decided it is time to eat, and eat he has been doing! Think he has gone through 3 cans of puppy food today so far plus puppy kibble, so definitely think he is on the mend! He continues to take his meds without problem and I am seeing more of his right eye and less of the swelling on his face. He feet are a little swollen still but think that will work itself out in time. Bryant has been a little more active today and one time went out the doggie door and wandered around the back yard, checking things out and didnt seem to notice that I was not with him. I have noticed that he has a hard time relaxing with other dogs around so have started to have one of my smaller fosters in the same room with him when it is time to rest/sleep. Piper is a small, chihuahua mix about 10# who has hydrocephalus (water on the brain), and as a result her head is enlarged and she has pretty persistent nasal drainage. She is not the sharpest knife in the drawer, as the swelling has caused some brain damage, but she doesnt have a mean bone in her body. And Bryant seems to like her company. Earlier I took a photo of him and see that he has a condition called Carpal Subluxation or down in the pasterns. What this is, is a irregular development of the muscles, tendons, cartilage, and ligaments in the legs and feet, which causes him to basically walk very flat footed. It is caused either by heredity or malnutrition, and I am sure it is the latter in this case. I have had malnourished puppies with this in the past, and know that with the good food (Wellness Puppy Food) we are feeding Bryant, he should be able to get past this issue and develop good healthy feet and legs in the future. You can see in the photo, how his right front foot is the worst, and the other 3 show signs of this condition as well. But I am sure this is just a temporary thing. :)
