Here is the other one. Two great events for affected families and to support the disaster relief. They are at the Peoria Riverfront Museum. Please share this status and get the word out. Hope to see you there! FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Event: Central Illinois Tornado Stories – Rescheduled New Date & Time: Mon., Jan. 27, 4 - 7 p.m. Admission: FREE Location: Peoria Riverfront Museum · 222 S.W. Washington St. · Peoria Peoria Riverfront Museum has rescheduled Central Illinois Tornado Stories for Mon., Jan. 27, 4 to 7 p.m. Admission is free. We welcome area residents and families who were affected by the recent tornado, as well as first responders, volunteers, neighbors, and their families. All of our galleries and the planetarium will be open. We will also have a number of activities for children. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. During our Tornado Stories event, we are offering individuals and families the opportunity to relax, stroll through our exhibits, and, if they wish, to share their own oral stories of survival, response, and recovery. Those who would like to share their stories will have the opportunity in a number of venues, recorded and unrecorded, including our Story Studio (oral history booth) and small, staff-facilitated groups. For those who would like to share later, we will be collecting stories, photos, and videos over the course of the year to be shared at a special exhibit marking the first anniversary of the tornado. Stories shared later may be recorded during regular museum hours in our Story Studio (in The Street Gallery). Photos and videos may be dropped off at the front desk or emailed to [email protected]. As part of our mission to preserve area history, our goal is to provide residents, responders, and volunteers with an outlet and collection point for sharing all stories surrounding this devastating event and beyond, into recovery. All oral histories, photos, and video will become the property of the Peoria Historical Society and shared with the Washington Illinois Historical Society and the Tazewell County Genealogical & Historical Society. Our thoughts continue to be with all of those who have been affected. The Peoria Riverfront Museum is the collaborative effort of eight organizations, with nearly 500 years of combined experience educating, entertaining, and supporting our diverse Peoria-area culture. Our mission is to inspire lifelong learning for all - connecting art, history, science, and achievement through collections, exhibitions, and programs.
