Here is the promised update by Sanger Police Chief, Silver Rodriguez, about the discovery of a dead body in a vehicle yesterday morning: On Sept. 10, 2014 at 9:50 a.m., Officers of the Sanger Police Department were dispatched to the AM/PM Mini Mart at the corner of Academy/5th Streets in Sanger, regarding a report of a possibly deceased person in a vehicle. Officers arrived and confirmed a male in the vehicle was deceased. Sanger PD Investigators initiated an investigation into the incident in an effort to determine if the person died of a medical condition (natural causes) or if it was the result of foul play. The Fresno County Coroner was called to the scene and the Fresno Sheriff’s Department Crime Lab responded to assist in processing the scene for evidence. The deceased person has been identified as: Marcos Cortez Moreno (43 yrs.) of Sanger. The exact cause of death has not been determined, as it is pending an autopsy. During the preliminary investigation and moving of the body, there does not appear to be any obvious signs of foul play. Investigators reviewed the video surveillance system at the mini mart and determined the victim entered the store and made a purchase at approx. 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014. It does not appear the vehicle has moved from the parking stall since that date and time. Investigation into the death is continuing and this matter will be handled as a suspicious death, until it is determined that his death is not the result of a crime.
