Here is the spot where the two-room cabin was located where Granny and I would spend several weeks during the summer when I was small It was known as the Clayton House. Im including a pic I found of the house. When it would storm Granny would assure me that lighting couldnt hurt me because I was in bed on feathers. Granny slept with three things under her pillow. I know for sure there were two. There was a wooden- handled fork. That was for back scratching. There was also a wooden -handled ice pick. That was for intruders. I believe you could also find a New Testament there as well. We had a ball. We took long walks, picked flowers,dug sassafras for tea,picked blackberries and peaches, walked to the spring,etc. I would walk back and forth between the Clayton House and the Big House to visit Williemerle and his family.Thats my Granny and her brother Floyd in the pic. Floyd was a hoot. Now my Mama could be hilarious and shed laugh her butt off at Floyd.
