Here is the start of a post I posted in Percidae Husbandry back in August that I thought I would share. I wanted to share the entire thread but FB wouldnt let me since it is a closed group. Anyway...................................... I took this video today to show another benefit of keeping gammarus in your aquariums. Not only are they a great food source but a good poulation can wipe out hair algae if given enough time. They do need to be given enough areas of sanctuary like rocks, wood, and plants where fish cant just pick them all off. A refugium which is basically what the tank in the video is also works great for keeping gammarus. Ill be taking more videos of the same rock as time progresses. By the way the other inverts in the tank are moina, daphnia pulex and ramshorn snails. By the way that same rock was clear of hair algae just two days later.
