Which is more special, this one....no, that one!! Oh, it is so hard to choose!! The MOST special is, of course, the birth of Jesus Christ, for without His birth as our first Christmas, why, there would not be a Christmas to celebrate!! But as for a Christmas experienced in my lifetime, I linger on a Christmas Eve during which we were driving to my Parents home for a time of celebration and gift exchange. However, this was not to be as our car broke down before we could arrive. Bless my Husband! He elected to walk to find a pay phone so that he could get us some help. This left me and our two young sons alone in a car that would not start. The temperature was dropping and lovely snowflakes were merrily dancing in the dusky sky. I pulled the emergency blanket from the trunk of the car, got into the back with my boys, and wrapped us all up tightly together so we could try to stay warm. To ease my childrens fears as well as their disappointment at not being able to open Christmas Eve presents, I began to first lead them in singing Christmas carols. As they tired of that, we talked about where Santa might be and about what they hoped he would bring for them. Soon after that, they began to drift off to sleep. As I waited for my husbands return, I sat cuddling my young children, looking into their sweet, precious, innocent faces and thought of our few Christmases together and then about what Christmas future might be. We never did make it to my Parents that night but that time spent huddled together in a broken down cold car made some of my warmest memories ever.
