Here is the update. Thank you all for praying for my family. God is in control and He is wonderful in His graciousness to us. Martha, Julianna and Maggie spent the night at home. I spent the night in ICU with Carlena. Grandma and Grandpa Wong spent the night at the hospital also. Carlena has a spinal cord injury called Hangmans Fracture. Specifically, her spinal cord was stretched during the accident and her skull and neck are now back in place without having medical intervention. She has ligament damage between her skull and the first vertebrae, the 1st and 2nd and between the 2nd and 3rd. The blood clot pressing against her spinal cord is not growing. She has no fractures even though her neck injury is called Hangmans Fracture. I guess what fractures is the spinal cord. The pediatric surgeon who examined Carlena last night was the same who removed Katharinas burst appendix 8 years ago. He said he has never seen a spinal cord injury this severe where the patient lived. Her right hand is badly bruised and swollen. They havent yet x-rayed it. She is still sedated and will eventually be allowed to wake up from the sedation, although she is sometimes alert for 2-3 minutes. Thank you for all your ministry for us in prayer. Please continue to pray. Specifically, that Carlenas neck would remain stable and the ligaments would heal and hold everything in place, and the spinal cord would heal. This will all take time, so it is a wait and watch situation now. Also, please thank our great God for the former EMT trucker who held Carlenas head. He probably saved her life by doing so. And the others who helped at the accident scene. One of the paramedics said he had never seen so many trucks and cars pulled over to help. Also thank God for allowing me and the rest of the family to have Martha, Carlena, Julianna and Maggie for a while longer. I praise the Lord for those things, for the peace He has given us. and for the show of love and support you have given me and my family. Included is a link to a 7 minute video of Pastor Jeff explaining the accident in case you havent received it yet. Bests Accident: youtu.be/0CRrAk60NJI Grace, Chris
