Here is what is happening this week: Local Government The Airport Authority is scheduled to meet this afternoon at 4pm at the Macon County Airport. The Macon County Commissioners will be meeting at 9am on May 31st for a several hour discussion on the Fiscal Year 2015 budget. Summertime Weather Pattern Continues Our current summer pattern of afternoon and evening thundershowers will continue into the foreseeable future. Our Bermuda high pressure will be overrun by a cold front moving in from the north on Wednesday. The front will stall out just to our south and will keep the atmosphere moderately unstable in our area and fuel pop up thunderstorms and brief showers that will only affect a small area for each storm. Thursday is looking like the day for the most thunderstorm activity this week. Meet at the Macon County Public Library parking area at 8:00 am. Sponsored by Franklin Bird Club. May 29 Jason Love will lead a walk at Gibson Bottoms at 8:00 am. Meet at the entrance to Gibson Bottoms which is located on Rain Ridge Rd, off Sanderstown Rd about 5 miles north of Franklin off Highway 28. This outing is a collaboration among the Franklin Bird Club, Coweeta LTER and LTLT. In addition to birding, Jason will talk about some of the active research that took place at LTLT’s Gibson Bottoms.
