Here is what is wonderful about working with farm and country kids....The guy cutting down the trees, came up to the house and asked if I could give him a hand, I say of course. I start out of the house and he asks if I have gloves--- yep I do. We get outside and he says he is sorry he didnt see the nest. He had trimmed a tree and dislodged a nest of baby blue jays. I go out he has the nest intact off to one side-- he shimmies up a tree builds a sturdy platform of twigs ans sticks and has me hand him up the nest. He will stop tomorrow and if the birds dont look well he has offered to take them to the wildlife refuge. This is followed by my contractor pulling over and stopping traffic to save a turtle in the road..... And the plumbers daughter having the refuge come out and get a fawn who had a broken leg. It isnt always easy living in a rural area, but you cannot beat the people.
