Here is your week ahead forecast from Monday to Friday. We have a mixed bag of weather from wind and rain to sunny spells with also a risk of sleet and snow on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday plus even the risk of thunder. So please be advised this forecast is subject to change as so much is going on at present that the detail is a little up in the air. I will try to give you as much detail as I can but be prepared for sudden changes as we move into next week. Monday: Early weather warning for strong winds and a pulse of heavy rain. The day will start off cloudy with a strong to gale force SW wind. We will see gusts of up to 50mph for a time before the rain arrives. As we move into the afternoon we will feel the winds start to drop slowly as a pulse of rain that could be very heavy for a time pushes in but will quickly push SE out of the SW by early evening. The winds will drop to around 20mph still from a SW direction but could see sudden gusts up to 30mph from time to time throughout the evening with showers. Top temperature of 11 degrees. Tuesday: Weather watch for possible sleet and snow for parts of the SW. Yes we could see late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning a band of rain, sleet and snow affect parts of the SW. Tuesday daytime we will see sunny spells and scattered showers. Some heavy possible thundery. As the day goes on a cold front will push through the SW introducing colder air and following in behind will be some strong SW-W winds gusting up to 35mph by nightfall. Overnight temperatures will drop like a stone and a pulse of rain is looking likely to push through. Now the detail is a little tricky at present but what looks likely to happen is parts of Somerset, Wiltshire North Dorset and the Moors of the SW are at risk of the rain changing to sleet and snow. At present only the highest routes are at risk of sleet and snow, for lower levels it is mostly of rain. Its going to be short lived whoever sees any of the White stuff as a warm front pushes back in throughout Wednesday. Subject to change Snow risk: Midnight Tuesday until 05:00 Wednesday morning. 10% - Cornwall 15% - Parts of Dorset 20% - Parts of Devon 30% - Somerset 37% - Wiltshire Top temperature Tuesday is 8 degrees, add on the wind more like 3 to 5 degrees and overnight it will feel like 1 to -3 degrees. Wednesday: EARLY WEATHER WATCH FOR GALES. We need you to keep up to date with the page regarding Wednesday. There is a lot of uncertainty as to what will definitely happen but at present we are expecting a really stormy period of weather to affect the SW. Winds at present could reach 50 to 60mph widely and as much as 60 to 75mph around the coasts and high ground. On top of this we are also expecting a very heavy period of rain to work its way in which could lead to localised flooding. We have to stress at present the low responsible could shift more north as it moves towards the UK taking with it the worst of the winds but if it stays on track for us, we will see some nasty weather around 4 to 6 hours Wednesday night. Winds will be gusty through Wednesday anywhere so not feeling pleasant but Wednesday night we will start to feel the full force if this pulls off. STAY UP TO DATE WITH THE PAGE. Top temperature of 8 degrees feeling more like 3 degrees during the day lifting as the day continues. Thursday & Friday at present are up in the air with regards to the charts. We have two possible events. The first being much colder air pushes in introducing more in the way of wintery showers with even a risk of thunder. The second possible is for milder air to wind and we see a band of showers or rain sweep in and windy conditions. The signs are for the first possible event to happen so again we ask that you keep tuned as we could see our first snow event lasting a couple of days. As I said there is a lot going on and stress this forecast is subject to change due to so many factors involved. It is also a case that timing of these weather fronts is difficult to pin down so far in advance and we will do our best to keep you informed throughout the coming days. Thats it for now.
