Here it is, Matt Prieur, proof that my NASCAR #777 reference last night, albeit patently obscure, was authentic. As a personal note, I not only met Mr. Robbins but was on stage with him during a Country Western Spectacular on December 30, 1967. Some of you old-timers might remember a local concert promoter/racing advocate Tiny Cunningham. Mr. Cunningham, being the promoter of the aforementioned event, invited my family to bring a quarter midget to the -now shuttered- Vets Memorial Auditorium. Once there, a makeshift number 777 was affixed and I was pushed out onto the stage to present him with a supplied trophy. Oh what I wouldnt give for a photo of that evening. Finally, to tie this personal aside up into a nice tight bow, Im including an image of last nights honoree, Bud St. Amant, with Mr. Cunningham following a victory down at the speedway. #thanksforindulging #backintheday
