Here it is officially! The youth of Kansas will now have a voice!! Purpose of the Kansas Youth Committee ...is to unite youth across the State of Kansas in an effort to advise the Kansas Advisory Group on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (KAG) and the State of Kansas on issues concerning youth and will take action to bring about change across Kansas. ...is to strengthen the image of youth across Kansas by encouraging and empowering youth in their educational endeavors and future goals. ...is to provide opportunities for the youth of Kansas to develop leadership skills through service and advocacy. Our objective at this time is to actively recruit members between the ages of 14 and 22 to serve and work with other youth to lead the State of Kansas in improving juvenile justice initiatives. Youth offer a unique point of view and this is an opportunity for youth to have a voice in the future of juvenile justice. ARE YOU… • Between the ages of 14 and 22? • A youth in custody of a Kansas Juvenile Correctional Facility? • A youth who has been involved in the Kansas juvenile justice system? • A youth who at one time was deemed a Child In Need of Care? • A youth attending college and majoring in an area pertaining to juveniles? • A relative of a youth who is or has been involved in the Kansas juvenile justice system? • Someone who believes youth should have an active voice in the Kansas juvenile justice system? • Someone who sees a need for changes in our juvenile justice system in Kansas?
