Here on the eve of TDOR 2014 we had the terrible misfortune to witness a gross misinterpretation of transgender issues being confused with women who wanted to fight for a cause during the Civil War. Scott Angus exhibit and presentation of Forgotten Heroes focuses on 8 brave women who dressed in mens uniforms to fight in Civil War battles. We dont take issue that these women were heroes, but are appalled at them being characterized as transgender. It is a gross injustice to them as well as transgender people. Notwithstanding the fact that Angus research was sloppy, the presentation itself was horrible, with pronouns being butchered and both moderator and presenter having frequent laughs at the subjects lives.
