Here we are: Hello chemistry lovers this is a note from Mr. Kohler your future AP Chemistry instructor. I hope summer has been treating you well. I know it is hard to believe but it is time to start thinking about this falls AP Chemistry. We will be working from the 7th edition of Chemistry by Zumdahl. If you havent purchased one yet I suggest that you get one as soon as possible. I got a 2007 edition through Amazon for about $55.00. You may want to consider purchasing a copy of the student solutions manual as well This is the most popular of the approved textbooks for AP Chemistry so copies may get a little tougher to find as we get closer to start of the school year. I like to have students go over the material from the beginning of the chemistry text as this is just a review of general chemistry and considered prerequisite knowledge. It is very difficult to cover all the material that is on the AP exam so you will need to read through the first 2 chapters of Zumdahl and good deal of Chapter 3 before the school year starts. We will go through this material very quickly at the start of the year and most students find it difficult to keep up if they have not done the material before the year starts. I will be sending out more specific information on exactly which problems that you should do and what things are of greatest emphasis for the course. The AP curriculum was overhauled for the first time in over 30 years for 2014 and I am gathering information as to the specifics so I dont have you spending time on things that are no longer points of emphasis. Parts of the material in Ch-3 are no longer even covered. You should be receiving learning outcomes for Ch-1 very soon.so stay tuned. God Bless and bye for now Dan Kohler
