Here we are very close to a decision involving the murder of Mike - TopicsExpress

Here we are very close to a decision involving the murder of Mike Brown in Ferguson, MO and the main comments I hear from people are something along the lines of “I hope this doesn’t become violent”. Now as violent as the acts of murdering Mike brown and many others to the hand of law enforcement have been, you would think the masses of Caucasian people would be less violent acting towards African Americans if they were sincere. However, that’s not the case! Take for instance this morning. I went inside a Walgreens on Lafayette Ave to make a purchase. First, a Caucasian man walked in before me (I was about six steps behind him) and an African American woman greeted him “Good Morning”, in a cheerful manner. As I approached I received a glaring “Aunty Ruckus” stare (self-hatred). I didn’t let it bother me so I continued on, when suddenly a group of African American males attending a nearby school entered the store after me. On their arrival the African American woman (Aunty Ruckus), shouted out over the intercom for security. At my amazement, every Caucasian male, from stock boy to Pharmacist emerged onto the floor, stalking and probing every young African American male in whatever aisle they could find them in. After this intimidation, the young men carried on to the counter to make their purchases. One young man was trying desperately to get his money from his book bag to pay for his candy bar, when a Caucasian woman, who felt that he wasn’t moving quickly enough rudely butted in front of him in line to make her purchase. The clerk cheerfully accepted the woman’s purchase despite the fact that she wasn’t next in line and when the young man questioned the clerk about the matter she told him, he just had to wait. After making my purchase I exited the store to get my propane tanks refilled and the manager of the store came outside to assist me. That’s when I questioned him and asked, “Is it store policy, when young African American males enter the store, to go on full security alert?” His reply was, “Yes, because they steal!” So I asked, “Young Caucasian males don’t steal?” He said, “No!” in a confident tone. I asked, “Did anyone steal this time?” His reply was, “No.” He seemed to be rather irritated with me and my inquisitiveness about store policy concerning young African American males. When I asked him why did he seem irritated he said, “You don’t understand!” So I care not to understand this. But, I do understand that when you provoke a fight, you shouldn’t cry when you get a black eye. So my take on this whole situation is when you behave in a nasty malicious manner, you should expect the same thing in return. Unless, you believe you are privileged in this way as well.
