Here we go again! A sloppy storm system will take aim at the Badger State this evening and depending on where you are, you could see snow, sleet, rain or even freezing rain! Snow will initially arrive this evening from south to north with all snow expected tonight on a line north of Merrill to Iron Mountain. South of this line there could be a switch over to sleet or rain and depending on air temperatures even freezing rain! Total snow accumulations across the Northwoods tonight will range from 1-2. Everyone will see a transition over to snow tomorrow as the bulk of the storm system rotates over the state. Moderate to heavy to snowfall is expected at times tomorrow morning through the early afternoon, especially to the north of Highway 64 so travel will be slow going. Another 2-4 of snow will be possible tomorrow giving us a potential of 3-5+ from tonight through tomorrow afternoon. Winds will not be a big issue with this storm, but expect snow covered and slippery roads for tonight and tomorrow! Lake effect snow showers may be possible for Tuesday night and Wednesday for the snowbelts as winds turn more out of the north off of Lake Superior. It looks like well dodge a potential storm system across the Northwoods by Wednesday afternoon as an area of low pressure passes across Lower Michigan. This storm could bring snow from the Fox Valley southward towards Chicago Wednesday afternoon and evening so if you have last minute travel plans, you could run into slippery roads that direction. Otherwise we catch a break from the snow Christmas Day with perhaps more snow by Friday afternoon or evening.
