Here we go again. This time double speak in a Competitiveness - TopicsExpress

Here we go again. This time double speak in a Competitiveness Report from the Business Council of Australia - sounding suspiciously like more ammunition for the LNP to attack working conditions. We all know words like competitiveness and productivity are code for reduce wages. And note the reference to the Fair Work Act, for one. Who didnt see that coming? Declaring Australia at a crossroads, the BCA argues that policy-makers should identify which sectors are going to win at a global scale and back them with policies to maximise growth. It nominates the mining, agriculture and energy sectors as priority areas. I have an idea for winning on a global scale. How about we focus on targeting what will be THE industry of the 21st century: the renewable energy sector. Shame that sector is packing up and leaving Australia in droves - cos as long as theres coal in the ground to make money for a few, the Earth shall remain flat. If the Govt wont put climate change on the G20, join the Rally Against Abbott on 16 Nov 2014 and tell the world we understand the economic benefits of de-carboning industries, even if our Govt doesnt. As far as the nasties planned for the labour market, watch this space. How savage the LNP are willing to get may well depend, at least in part, on how willing we are to get off our couches and march for a fair Australia.
