Here we go again! When will our elected officials show the real courage to deal with their tax and spend issues? So just how did they raise the 8.2 billion dollars tax revenue that will fund the Highway Bill through May 2015? The largest chunk of the 8.2 billion dollars, $6.4 billion, results from allowing employers to defer payments to their Employee Pension Plans! Funding pension plans normally results in a tax savings for companies, and deferring those payments means they will pay more in taxes and increase federal revenue. But several lawmakers suggested the revenue from the pension changes is illusory. No kidding! It is all a shell game which is eventually doomed for a financial collapse. When do we tell the employees that their Employee Pension Plan is underfunded? That should be a really happy day for someone! President Obama offered a plan that would have raised 302 billion dollars in spending. I must say that I agree with the President and some of the law makers that May of 2015 is a really short fix to a major problem. I also do not know the specifics of where that revenue would have supposedly come from but heres a unique thought....QUIT WASTING SO MUCH MONEY!!! DUHHH!
