Here we sit 9 days from D-day for our gun rights in Illinois as - TopicsExpress

Here we sit 9 days from D-day for our gun rights in Illinois as well as nationally and I see that 30 people have been following todays posts. That is great that on such a gorgeous fall day that 30 people took the time to read them. On the other hand however I see that out of the 30 who read the questionnaire, only 14 bothered to even answer one out of three choices with one mouse click. What does all of this mean? I took this position believing that the lawful gun owners in this part of the state actually wanted to stand up and save our rights. What I naively believed in the beginning has not turned out to be the case in reality. Dont get me wrong, we have some awesome warriors who have jumped on this, spent their own money, gas and time to build this group. I salute each and every one of you and I enjoy seeing you at each and every meeting. I also get excited watching each one of take this group page and run with it on your own. The comments and discussions that you all have posted here and the ones that you have shared on other pages gives me hope that we might grow as a group. But......and we all knew that but was coming, this group has stagnated and is dying a slow painful death. Most days I feel like I am begging the very gun owners who have been complaining that they want their rights. Well, rights arent free and they sure arent welfare. If we want our rights we damn well have to join together and fight for them because nobody is going to give them to us. As a matter of fact, we have more influential people and even bigger influential money doing more to destroy those rights than ever in the history of this country! I am not chicken little or the little boy who cried wolf here. I am your NRA Liaison between you and the politicians that we elect and my sole responsibility is to do what is necessary to see that they look out for our best interest. I take this position very serious, I dedicate way too much personal time to fighting this fight and I do it not only for free but it actually costs me money to do this. I do it for myself yes....but I do it for all of you and from where I am sitting I know for a fact that right here in this county, 24% of the population holds a valid FOID card in their wallet or purse. In Sangamon County, 18% of the population holds a valid FOID card. In the State of Illinois there are 1.5 million FOID card holders. But also from where I am sitting I see that only a small hand full of pro second, pro gun individuals care enough to join me as your representative and fight this fight. I have given long and restless thought to this and I have decided to give this group another couple of weeks to grow. This should not be as difficult as it has been. As a matter of fact, this group should have went viral across this state by now! It is with a heavy heart that I write this but as I said, I have given this many hours of thought and reflection and simply put if I do not see the lawful gun owners and pro second supporters in this state show any more interest than they have shown up to this point, I will be resigning my position as the NRA ILA EVC for this district. It not what I want to do but at this point I just do not see the interest out there and no NRA representative can do it alone. Thank you all for reading this and I hope to see this explode and not die off.
