Here ya go Mark...This goes a long way toward making my point from our dinner conversation the other night...Here (as in the US) the person must be convicted beyond a reasonable doubt...Youll never convince me, that someone who is recalling a memory from over forty years ago will ever recount it accurately...Im not saying that he didnt do these things, or that victims always get it wrong, after all, we tend to remember the traumatic things that have happened to us the most...However, it is human nature to embellish and forget ALL of the events of our past (traumatic or otherwise)...Likewise, it seems fairly unlikely that someone who is in their eighties, could be expected to remember with any accuracy events that occurred forty five years ago, never mind defend himself against accusations that stem from that time frame...And ultimately these are accusations of indecent assault not RAPE, and I believe that makes a big difference, especially when it comes to recounting the specifics...This article just helps make my point that there should be a statute of limitations (albeit a broad one) for these types of accusations...I know that statement will piss a lot of people off, but justice is for the accused as much as it is for the victim...Read the entire article and tell me you cant see my point...
