Heredity is a combination of a little of this, a little of that - TopicsExpress

Heredity is a combination of a little of this, a little of that and most often, the result of dominant genes. But not always. Sometimes a recessive gene rises to the top. A blue eyed child born to parents with brown eyes is an example. Then there are those genes that carry a curse: you are born stupid. Your parents might have been smart, even brilliant, but youre an idiot. Todays obvious (I say without knowing the background of his parents but if they were as stupid as the son they brought into this world, they never would have figured out that Part A goes into Part B in order to procreate) recessive gene idiot is Nicholas Kristof, op-ed columnist with the home to many idiots, The NY Times. Seat belts, air bags, assisted braking systems and guns. More or less Kristofs topic du jour. You see, starting many decades ago, we made cars safer. We engineered them to be more responsive, stronger, too, with safety always in the forefront. Often, at the insistence of Congress, Detroit responded, yet often, Detroit offered innovation without prompting. Certainly todays autos with GPS and other goodies, came about not because Congress wants voices directing you to the nearest Piggly Wiggly, but because todays world is full of means to assist us. And at times, on good proddings, Detroit was less than enthusiastic. So asks Kristof, why can we not do the same with guns? Like say, a smart gun. I dont know guns well enough to say some guns are just stupid, but I have to wonder what would be a smart gun? (cue voice from gun) Are you sure you want to shoot the intruder raping your wife?. Smart gun, like living wage, lacks definition from Liberals. Just toss out a catch phrase without putting any meat on it. They said it, now others are left to figure out what they mean. Like any good Liberal, Kristof takes a run at the gun lobby. One constraint, the argument goes, is the Second Amendment. Yet the paradox is that a bit more than a century ago, there was no universally recognized individual right to bear arms in the United States, but there was widely believed to be a “right to travel” that allowed people to drive cars without regulation. Seriously? Driving is a privilege, it was and never will be a right. The right to keep and bear arms is just that, a right. As for a century ago, adjudications of recent vintage, such as Heller, had yet to take place. Kristof must know that? Perhaps the 2nd Amendments language on guns and rights was not universal for those who could not follow it? Whatever, it was universal and now it is affirmed as universal. Maybe those like Kristof, having never appreciated or understood the 2nd, have a recessive gene? The gene that determines whether you can simultaneously chew gum while slapping your ass with both hands or youre just an idiot? Take a bow Kristof, not a bow, that is something you tie, a bow, you know, a curtsy, for being todays recessive gene idiot...
