Heres Judy Garland in a scene that was filmed--but never used--for the movie musical Easter Parade. MGM was right to cut this number; the song wasnt nearly as good as the others in that first-rate film musical, and it certainly didnt fit into the early-20th-century period in which the film was supposed to be taking place. But Garland--one of my favorite performers--looks and sounds great. Even when asked to put over a less-than-stellar song, she commands attention. The outfit here foreshadows one shed would famously wear two years later, singing Get Happy in Summer Stock.
