Heres Lyndseys blog post on meeting Sassi Holford: Elegant, timeless, romantic, structured, regal, even. All words that could be used (and have been used, on countless occasions this weekend!) to describe a Sassi Holford bridal gown. So, strolling to work on the cold, damp Glasgow eve of March 7th, I felt a slight sense of trepidation. Would meeting the woman who has, for over two decades been making women look and feel flawless, be all I had hoped for? In short, the answer was an undeniable yes! Hosting a special Sassi Holford designer day and being able to receive group training from Sassi herself here at Anne Priscilla was an amazing opportunity for both brides-to-be and staff to glean a unique insight into how to fit, style and most importantly shine in a beautiful British couture gown. As a new member of staff and an unashamed wedding dress obsessive, meeting Sassi was a slightly nerve-wracking yet wonderful prospect. Having designed dresses for clients such as Autumn Phillips, Sassi’s beautiful creations are held in the highest regard. Training with Sassi was so insightful and thoroughly enjoyed by us all; especially the opportunity to model some of her newest and most exceptional creations, taken from her 2015 collection. An exclusive preview, who wouldn’t be excited!? Styling is obviously something that comes so naturally to Sassi and we were taken through how to make each dress work on many different levels. Seeing her transform the minimalistic and elegant “Jessica” into five completely different looks using a combination of classic jackets and belts, lace overlays and quirky shirts was an eye-opener on how a timeless shape can adopt completely different personalities; each one as individual as the bride herself! The designer day was a wonderful experience, with brides being able to receive one-to-one advice and fittings from Sassi. And as no one knows the designs better than the leading lady herself, each and every woman who chose one of the amazing designs to try on was given a full talk through the wonderful fabrics that shape her inspiration, how to wear each look and how each design can be customised to suit every venue, colour scheme and wedding expectation! An amazing day was clearly had by all and we would like to thank Sassi Holford for taking the time out to come and pay us a visit here in Glasgow and preview some of her incredible new designs here at Anne Priscilla. Her expertise helped many a bride this weekend fulfil the dream of finding “the one”. Having spoken to Sassi and watched her work and interact with both bride and dress, here are some of her top tips on how to rock your dress: 1. The cut and shape are key. Find the shape that works best for your body type. 2. Structure, structure, and may I repeat, structure ladies! It’s your day, you want to feel secure and comfortable in your dress at all times and with Sassi’s fabulous in-built corsets, there is no need to panic about a single thing. 3. Do not be afraid to add a little colour. Antique rose, as featured on Sassi’s “Mathilda” design, pale champagne, and classic pastels all featured heavily on the catwalks for this season and the next. 4. Add a little sparkle. Many of Sassi’s new designs feature sequins and embellished appliques in some form. And why not? Who doesn’t want to shine on their big day?! 5. Finally, it’s all about the accessories. They can make your look unique, fit your theme or create a dress specifically for you and your venue. A well-positioned belt, a beautifully tailored jacket for the ceremony or even a stunning lace coat can give the illusion of two completely different outfits and take you seamlessly from daytime formal to evening party.
