Heres Thursday folks...almost at another weekend! Happy, single or poor: What your dog says about you Labrador owners are likely to be single, people with Yorkshire terriers are happy, and those who own bulldogs want to break up, survey finds. They may be man’s best friend, but it appears your choice of dog may even be more important than you think. A study has claimed the breed of dog can give an insight into the personality, education and even wealth of its owner. Dog lovers owning a Yorkshire terrier are said to be the happiest, while those with a Labrador are most likely to be single. The research, carried out in conjunction with 2,000 dog owners, claims to have found people with pugs are likely to be rich and those with Chihuahuas devote the most time to their animal. Anyone buying a Dalmatian is more likely to own a sports car than other dog owners, while those with a French bulldog identify as the “biggest rockers”. Pet ownership is even said to give an insight into one’s love life. Those with a Labrador are more likely to be single, according to the survey, while owners with a pet bulldog are “in a relationship but looking to get out of it”. The findings may give insight into the experience of television presenter Ben Fogle, who has previously spoken of how he met his wife out walking his beloved Labrador Inca while single. The happily married households of Britain are, the survey found, most likely to own a pug. The study was conducted by Frontline Spot On, a flea and tick prevention service for pets. Researchers found pet lovers who owned golden retrievers are the “most intelligent”, with nearly a quarter of those surveyed holding a masters degree or PhD. More than half of those who bought a pug are happily married, while one in 12 bulldog owners were hoping to break up with their partner at the time of questioning. Great Dane owners tended to be the lowest-paid, with an average salary of £35,000, in contrast with the average £85,000 salary of a pug owner. Those who own Dalmatians are said to spoil them more than any other dog, spending £17 a week on toys and treats. Chihuahuas – beloved of today’s celebrities - appear to demand the most attention from their human companions, with the average owner spending 16 hours a day by their side. A typical Yorkshire terrier owner claimed they laughed an average ten times a day and class themselves as “happiest”. Christine Male, marketing manager for Frontline Spot On, said: For many of the nations dog owners, their dog is more than just a pet but a real part of the family too. Its interesting to note how our choice of dog can help define what sort of person we are. According to the study: Happiest - Yorkshire terrier Richest - Pug Most dedicated (in terms of time) - Chihuahua Most dedicated (in terms of money) - Dalmatian Most educated - Golden retriever Biggest rockers - French bulldog Believe their dog knows what theyre thinking - French bulldog In a relationship but looking to get out of it - Bulldog Happily Married - Pug Single - Labrador Owns a sports car - Dalmatian LIKE and SHARE COMMENT - What kind of dog have you?
