Heres a Wal-Mart story for ya ... Yesterday @ 7:10 p.m. I purchased a patio dining set for $298 This morning, I checked and the price on-line was $238 So, I went to the Wal-Mart @ lunch to request a refund for the difference in price Sorry, we cant do that - thats an on-line price (I did not go to check price in store, employee said their price was still $298) So, I say you mean I have to purchase on-line and turn around and return the product in the same store for a credit on the original receipt No, you will need to bring back the original purchase IT IS THE IDENTICAL ITEM still in the box So, I go on-line and purchase the item ... sorry, you cant get that now, you will need to wait until you get email purchase is ready for pick up Go back to work (mind you my lunch break was quite extended today) I get the email, probably before I even get back to work On the way home I go to the store to pick up my new purchase Again, I try explaining there is no need for all of this handling of such a large purchase, they could just refund me the difference .... NO Hang on, here is where I was really thrilled - on the way to get my vehicle to drive to the back of store so they could load my new purchase, I decide to walk through the garden center to check the price ... you got it, the price in the store for the EXACT item was $238 So, I again go to try to explain to someone the simple fix for this craziness They tell me to go and have the Wal-Mart associate in the back to bring the boxed item to the front of the store and they will return it I am like you have got to be kidding me Here I go, when I walked through the back emergency door to tell the guy I would not be driving around he would need to bring this purchase to the front of store so that I could return it ... finally, an Assistant Manager ask if she could help - again, explaining the entire event She says, where is the item for $298 that you want to return - I explain to her it is the EXACT item and it was at home in the garage - did I really need to bring back the unopened box from yesterday?????? Excited, she finally gets it She places a phone call to the front customer service desk and advises them to refund my complete purchase from last night - I go up there, of course, no one spoke to her and they all look at me like I am making the whole story up (including the lady that told me I had to purchase on-line when I was there @ lunch) ... after a little discussion, I requested that they call Joanna, the Asst Mgr, to the customer service - they did, she came and looked at them like they were all crazy ... I got my refund - exhausted, but a difference of $64.95 What would you have done?
