Heres a brief update concerning the Hirayama Family: • Ms. Josephs 3rd Grade Class at Half Day School enjoyed a special good bye visit yesterday, April 22nd, during lunch/recess period with Rinka Hirayama. Rinka had a perpetual smile on her face, as she wished her classmates good bye and collected her school belongings. She was in good spirits and welcomed students to sign her hot pink cast! Additionally, we have been informed that Rinka will soon be heading back to Japan with family. • Principal Jill Mau mentioned that it was a relief to see in person the resiliency in the eyes and expressions of such a sweet young girl. Her own heartache was softened by watching Rinka with her peers. • Additionally, Mrs. Mau thanked all the staff members at the school, as well as the many District 103 parents and community members, for their calming words, regular check-ins, and offers of help. Her appreciation extends far deeper than her words could express. • Yaskawa America, Inc. has set up a fund to honor the memory of the Hirayama family and provide financial support to Rinka. More details are available online at yaskawa/attachments/LandingPage/donation.html. D103 thanks everyone for their interest in supporting the long-term well being of Rinka Hirayama. #engage103
