Heres a burst of exhuberance from Columbia, a celebration of the work of the local fishermen! The song is taken from the 1993 album La Candela Viva (Real World label) which is a feast of great rhythms and thrilling vocal crescendos. Totó is now in her 70s and is hopefully still going strong and keeping the locals dancing. Her work is very much in the tradition of Afro-Columbian culture. If you find this floats yer boat, do also check out a wonderful album called Umalali by The Garifuna Womens Project which provides a snapshot of songs and rhythms in the daily lives of women of the Afro-Caribbean communities in Belize, Guatamala, Honduras and Nicaragua.
