Heres a car with a history that reads like a whos who of British engineering and motor-racing. Its a 1951 Jowett Jupiter special – and it certainly is that. Originally built for racing, its innards are suitably sprightly – It was equipped with the Series III engine, with race crankshaft, special 4:2 axle ratio and right hand floor mounted gear change, says Silverstone Auctions. But then theres the owners – Bryan Winslett of Wade Supercharger fame was its second and fourth owner, the third was an RAF test pilot and handy racer on the side, the fifth worked for engine tuners Cosworth and the seventh was none other than Jowett fan and former Formula 1 world champion John Surtees. Its presented in unrestored condition, and looks all the more charming for it. So, all it needs is for a certain Mr Vettel to buy it next, just to keep up the lineage. It has an estimate of £28k to 30k, and more details can be found at silverstoneauctions
