Heres a clip of trombonist Richard Cougar Nelson, from the album Red Nichols and the Five Pennies - Blues And Old-Time Rags on Capitol Records (Im guessing from about 1963). Cougar Nelson was a spectacular trombonist, covering the entire range of the instrument - amazing chops. Sadly, Richard Nelson developed a very serious drinking problem which impacted his career to the extent that he completely fell off the radar...a real drag.
